What Is Ilumya? 

Ilumya, also known as tildrakizumab-asmn, is a biologic injection intended to treat adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. 

How Ilumya Works  

Ilumya acts as an inhibitor for IL-23, which in patients with plaque psoriasis, maintains immune cells in an inflammatory state. Ilumya blocks IL-23 in order to reduce inflammation and other symptoms of plaque psoriasis. 


What Is Ilumya Used For?  

Doctors order tildrakizumab-asmn to treat: 


Ilumya Injection Dosage and Administration  

Patients receive tildrakizumab-asmn via subcutaneous injection. 

Dosage and Frequency  

Typical dosage is 100mg/mL 

Patients generally receive their first and second dose 4 weeks apart, and all following doses 12 weeks apart.


Ilumya Injection Side Effects  

As with all medications,side effects are possible.  

Common side effects include: 

  • Upper respiratory infections 
  • Injection site reactions 
  • Diarrhea 

Serious allergic reactions and increased risk of infection are also side effects


How To Prepare for an Ilumya Injection 

It is essential that patients inform their physician if they currently have, or have had, any of the conditions listed below: 

  • Allergies to any of the ingredients in Ilumya 
  • An infection that does not go away or keeps coming back 
  • TB or close contact with someone with TB 

Patients should also inform their healthcare provider about all of the medicines they take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. 

During treatment with Ilumya, patients need to avoid receiving live vaccines. 


How to Get a Referral for Ilumya Injections 

Every Ilumya referral must be accompanied by a physician’s order for treatment. 

  • Patient information should include: 
  • Name 
  • Current address 
  • Home and mobile phone number 
  • Insurance information 

Information the physician must include on the patient’s order for Ilumya injection therapy: 

  • Patient’s name and DOB 
  • Order date 
  • Diagnosis 
  • Physician’s name and NPI# 
  • Office address, phone, and fax numbers 
  • Provider’s signature
